#  Atmosphere & First Impressions

 

Baekiyonbang sits right in the heart of Haenggung-dong, one of Suwon’s trendiest streets filled with cafes, small shops, and historic attractions. Thanks to its prime location, the restaurant is easy to find even for first-time visitors.

 

 

The outside might seem small and simple, but the interior surprises you. It’s decorated with Japanese anime merchandise and cute character items, creating a charming, cozy atmosphere. The space is tidy and organized, making it perfect for snapping some travel photos without feeling overwhelmed by clutter.

 

 

If you’re planning to visit, make a reservation through CatchTable to avoid the wait. We booked ahead and walked in without delay. As a nice touch, the friendly staff even handed us candies after our meal!

 

 

The outside of the store is small and cozy, but once inside, it's a cute little shop filled with Japanese anime merchandise and various character props, and the interior is clean and organized without being too busy, making it very photogenic.

# What We Ordered

Baekiyonbang focuses on donburi, traditional Japanese rice bowls. Here’s what we tried during our visit:

• Steak-don (Beef Rice Bowl) – 18,000 KRW
• Marinated Salmon-don – 16,000 KRW
• Seseri-don (Chicken Neck Meat Rice Bowl) – 13,000 KRW
• Chicken Skin Dumplings – 6,000 KRW

A quick note: You can order a maximum of 2 Steak-dons per table, so plan accordingly if you’re in a group.

#  Food Review: Taste & Quality

 

It's a savory and fatty dish, so I thought it would be perfect as an appetizer lol.

Even if you just look at the picture, it looks good for photography because the food setting and basic things are well prepared...
So it looks like it would be good as a date course, and even if it is just steamed roughly, it looks good and makes you want to take a picture...? 

 

 

🥩 Steak-don (Beef Rice Bowl)

The beef was cooked just right and was very tender...(❁´◡`❁)

 

And the food was so delicious that it was a Taiwanese favorite.

Quality? The meat was good and the salmon was good.

It was nice to see the kitchen open and cooking.

 

 

I didn't dip it in any sauce, but it was already well-seasoned, so it was perfect for my mouth.

And the amount of meat was more than I expected, so I was really, really satisfied.

 

🐟 Marinade Sake Don

I don't know if the salmon was thawed well or what, but it was in great shape and didn't get soggy at all.

 

 

Could it have been a little more dense? I would have liked it, but it was good with the salmon, so this guy was satisfied.

However, I preferred the steak don, so I'll give him more credit.

 

 

🍗 Seseri Don

Seseri is the neck part of the chicken, and the texture was good.

The soy sauce-based sauce went well with it, so it was light and easy to eat.

 

Personally... I thought the seseri-dong was more delicious than the sake-dong.

Of course, all three menus were delicious, but I'm not a big fan of meat, so I would recommend the seseri-dong if you want to share

#Overall Experience & Final Thoughts

Baekiyonbang left a great impression. The open kitchen lets you watch the chefs cook, adding to the trust and transparency. Despite the small space, it feels clean, cozy, and well-decorated.

The food quality was excellent, portions were satisfying, and service was top-notch. Plus, we received free candies after paying, and a surprise dessert by showing our Naver review — a delightful bonus!
