Today's Review
Starbucks, Coco-maltcha without syrup

🇺🇸 Coco Matcha, previously only sold in the US, is now available in Korea!!
I was thrilled about its Korean launch and tried it right away!!
I absolutely love matcha, you know?
Seriously, as soon as I saw the poster,
I thought, “I HAVE to try this!!!!!!!!!!” and gave it a go.
Every single person I asked around me who'd tried it
said it wasn't great, which only made me more curious about this menu item.

To cut to the chase, I absolutely LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was so blown away after my first taste that I've already ordered it over three times in less than a week.
That unique drink from the loyalty program?
I've already filled up on that one, lol.
Honestly, collecting the regular loyalty points is way harder now.

Alright, so I placed my order,
and I asked for no syrup. (Trying to be mindful of my health)
Before removing the syrup, the sugar content was around 20 grams,
but if I remove all three servings, I wonder how much it would be...
I don't know the exact number, but

Coconut water typically contains 7-9g of sugar per 300ml serving.
Based on this sugar content measurement,
if you skip the syrup entirely, a reasonable estimate suggests
the sugar content would be around 10g.
Calories are also under 150kcal for a Tall size!
Wow~ That's pretty good, right??? 👏
One downside though —
This menu is ice only.
No warm version available ㅠㅠ

Who made this?
Personally, I don't care for the plain matcha + water combo,
and matcha lattes with milk leave that distinctive cloying aftertaste, so I'd drink them as a meal replacement instead of after meals.
Wow, Cocomatcha totally fixes all those flaws.
And thanks to the natural sweetness of coconut water,
it tastes genuinely delicious to someone like me who always skips syrup or sugar in all matcha drinks. Yeah, it's incredibly tasty. 🤍💚

The very first sip made me think, “Huh? This is actually this clean?”
I ordered it at least three times in less than a week,
and thanks to that, I already filled up my Frequent Flyer special drink stamp card lololol
Like I said earlier, now it's actually harder to collect regular Frequent Flyer points T_T

Actually, I think it tasted better without the syrup.
If that artificial syrup sweetness had been added, it probably would have been annoying?
The bitter-sweetness of matcha + the subtle sweetness of coconut water = a light and clean sweetness.
This is exactly the combination.
It's not heavy, and it's genuinely good no matter when you eat it.

Coconut water doesn't mix well because it's thick,
but just press the lid a little and it mixes right up!
After eating it three times, I never got it to look as pretty as that poster.

✔️ Sweet enough without syrup
✔️ Low in calories and less sugar
✔️ Not recommended if you dislike coconut flavor
✔️ Highly recommended for those seeking a light matcha drink
Conclusion: My top pick among this year's Starbucks new menu items.
